Kent League-Mixed fortunes for the U16`s

Sunday 13th November 2022

On a perfect morning for rugby the U16`s teams had mixed fortunes. In League 3 of the Kent cup the 2XV faced local rivals Old Colfeians, who after a tough couple of years, have managed to add too and strengthen their numbers and now pose a real physical threat to compliment the skillset they have always possessed. Sidcup were hit hard by injuries and non-availability and with only 17 players it was always going to be a tough fixture and so it proved. We were as slow to start as Oc`s were quick and conceded 4 tries within the first 25 minutes and never recovered. The second half was much more even, and bought us our only try, with the game finishing 41 -7 to Old Colfeians. The opposition coaches were very complimentary at how we never gave up and felt that the scoreline did not really reflect the game. We will re-gather, work hard on our weaknesses, and make sure we start at a much higher level next time.
The 1XV travelled down to Tunbridge Wells for their 2nd game in League 1. As with the 2XV team numbers were impacted by non-availability and injury, so 18 players made the journey with some playing out of preferred position, however a very strong performance across the team saw us 38 to nil up at half time, with the final score 59 - 7 to Sidcup. Tunbridge battled to the end and were extremely gracious in defeat, wishing us well in our future games, as we do them.
